ZAFER KARAKUŞ (1958)

The artist, who has been immersed in a cultural atmosphere since an early age, has developed a profound passion and talent for art. Growing up in Istanbul, the artist’s spiritual richness, shaped by the synthesis of East and West, imbues their work with a deeper impact. To reconstruct the world according to their own consciousness, the artist first fragments it in their mind and then reassembles these pieces through a sequence of dreams, creating a new metaphysical world. They synthesize the destructive effects of the modern world on the individual by blending geometry, abstraction, and expressionism with color. Through abstract color stains, they reach the concrete. The artist never opts for a static or motionless depiction; instead, they elevate their works, orchestrating them like musical notes and allowing the colors to dance on the canvas.

By expressing their inner voice, inner color, inner freedom, and subconscious through the storms within, the artist reveals their metaphysical inner world. They present this to the viewer by creating a linear movement of colors, aiming for a more intuitive experience. Throughout their life, they have synthesized what they have accumulated and learned, combined with their talent, to create their works. When distilled entirely from their essence, these works become unique and original. By forming their dreams and thoughts into creations drawn from their own attire, they ensure that their works embody their own outcry. The artist has three paintings in the Toronto Museum in Canada and one piece in the Ankara State Painting and Sculpture Museum.
